2020.04.10 Delivery when infected with the new coronavirus or having a suspected infection
The hospital is prepared to take infection control measures so that pregnant women infected with the new coronavirus can deliver their babies.
From the viewpoint of preventing nosocomial infection, those who are clearly infected and those who are suspected to be infected* will be treated as infected patients with adequate infection control measures before delivery is imminent.
Furthermore, in accordance with the response guidelines from the Japanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and other related societies, similar to most receiving facilities, if the delivery cannot be made promptly within 1 to 2 hours, the patient will be delivered by Cesarean section.
As a comprehensive perinatal maternal and child medical center, we take on many serious obstetric cases mainly in the central block of Tokyo (Bunkyo, Taito, Chiyoda, Chuo, and Minato-Ku).
Even if the new coronavirus infections are spreading rapidly, we will respond in this manner in order to prevent nosocomial infections, to make effective use of limited medical resources, and to protect the lives of many mothers and babies from this crisis.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
*Persons suspected of infection: Those who have been in close contact with an infected person for two weeks or less, those who have traveled to infected areas, and those who have symptoms of suspected infection such as persistent fever.
